The Beach Club

When the iconic Beach Club at Sea Horse Ranch, the Dominican Republic North Coast’s premiere residential community, was destroyed by fire, EMUArchitects was tasked with the design of a new building, while retaining the flavor of the old.  The site is unique, with the structure perched right at the edge of a jagged outcropping of coralline limestone.  On stormy days, the facility would be soaked by salt spray from breaking waves, so would have to be salt resistant and able to withstand the ocean’s onslaught.  In fine weather, the restaurant and lounge would seat up to 60 under a high-peaked roof and many more in adjacent multi-level terraces for outdoor dining.  A new commercial kitchen was integrated into the design, along with a full service bar.  The final result, which serves as both fine-dining restaurant and events venue, has been enthusiastically received by all who have experienced it.
